Each May, Economic Development Week, organized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), shines a spotlight on the professionals and organizations working behind the scenes to strengthen communities, create jobs, and drive prosperity.
From May 12–16, 2026, the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) is proud to join this global celebration. Since 1982, we have been dedicated to transforming once-challenged areas into thriving neighborhoods full of opportunity. This year, we are doubling down on our commitment to collaboration, innovation, and inclusive prosperity.
To support our local business owners, the BBCRA offers several specialized grant programs designed to reduce the barriers to entry and help established shops expand.
Commercial Property Improvement Grant
Planning a renovation? This 50% matching, reimbursable grant helps offset the costs of permanent physical improvements to your commercial space.
What it Covers: Structural walls, electrical/plumbing, HVAC, flooring, ADA improvements, signage, and even murals.
Tiers of Support: Tier 1 ($50,000 max): Restaurants, bakeries, hotels.
Tier 2 ($25,000 max): Professional offices, fitness centers, salons, retail.
Tier 3 ($15,000 max): Facade and security for shops like dry cleaners or liquor stores.
Design Bonus: Tier 1 and 2 businesses can apply for an additional $10,000 to cover architectural and engineering fees.
Commercial Rent Reimbursement Grant
The first year is the hardest. This program provides monthly financial assistance during your critical first 12 months of operation or expansion.
Tier 1: Restaurants and bakeries can receive up to $2,000/month (or 50% of base rent).
Tier 2: Offices, boutiques, and salons can receive up to $1,750/month (or 50% of base rent).
Qualification: Must be a for-profit business with at least a 2-year lease and a credit score of 601+.
Commercial Business Marketing Grant
Need to grow your reach? This grant provides up to $2,500 to reimburse marketing expenses like social media ads, website development, and branding materials. It’s designed to help small businesses compete with national chains by building a professional local presence.
Social Media Outreach Program (SMOP)
Ready to go viral? Our Social Media Specialist offers FREE consulting to help you master digital marketing. We help you create engaging content and streamline your strategy so you can focus on running your business.
Boynton Beach Bucks
This “shop local” reward system puts money directly into our local economy. The BBCRA issues same-as-cash vouchers to the community, and we fully reimburse participating businesses for every dollar redeemed. It’s a win-win: residents get a deal, and businesses get new customers at no cost.
Business Promotional Activations
The BBCRA hosts a variety of promotional activations designed to spotlight the small local businesses that make our community unique.
Join us for Rock the Plaza at Ocean Plaza on May 16 from 2 PM to 6 PM, located at 640 East Ocean Avenue, Boynton Beach, FL 33435. Enjoy an afternoon of live music by Paul Anthony & The Reggae Souljahs while showing your support for the businesses that call Ocean Plaza home.
