The “Heart of Boynton” is beating a little stronger this month. On January 29th, a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a life-changing milestone for the Cottage District: the owners of the first two single-family homes were welcomed to the community. Please join us in wishing the warmest “Welcome Home” to the future residents of the Cottage District!

More than just a construction milestone, this is the realization of a vision nearly 15 years in the making. By leveraging a 4.6-acre parcel of publicly owned land, the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) has turned a long-held asset into a catalyst for community growth and attainable homeownership.

A Vision Realized

The BBCRA leveraged this publicly owned land to support the overall redevelopment of the Heart of Boynton community and surrounding area, to increase affordable home ownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income households.

The journey began in earnest with the BBCRA’s sale of the land to the PulteGroup for $2.4 million in 2024. Today, the project is well underway, with a vibrant neighborhood being created just blocks from Downtown Boynton Beach. Upon completion the project will feature:

  • 19 Single-Family Detached Homes
  • 22 Townhomes
  • A variety of community enhancements: A luscious green space, 181 new trees, five-foot sidewalks, and modern street lighting

Real Impact, Real Stories

For the families moving in, this is about more than just four walls. Ashley Dudley, one of the first homeowners, shared the emotional weight of the moment:

“My family and I are beyond grateful for this opportunity. I can say we finally have a place we can call our own home. We have invested in an asset and will no longer be renting.”

BBCRA Board Member Aimee Kelly echoed this sentiment, noting that the district represents “stability, opportunity, and growth within our community.”

Economic Vitality by the Numbers

The Cottage District is a powerhouse for the local economy. According to the County’s 2023 Economic Impact Study, the project’s completion in 2026 is projected to deliver:

  • $14.36 Million: Total estimated five-year economic impact.
  • 147 Jobs: Direct and indirect positions created because of the project’s construction.

Looking Ahead: The 2026 Townhome Lottery

If you missed the first phase, your opportunity is still on the horizon. PulteGroup has confirmed that the lottery for the 22 townhomes is scheduled for 2026.

These units are specifically designated for low-income qualified applicants through the Palm Beach County Workforce Housing Program. This is a rare chance to build equity in a brand-new, professionally designed community.

Action Step for Future Homeowners: Now is the time to prepare. Interested parties are encouraged to ensure their certifications are up to date in preparation for the upcoming selection process.
