It has been more than a week since Palm Beach County entered Phase 1 of the COVID-19 reopening plan. After being kept inside for nearly two months, many families are looking for safe, outdoor activities to enjoy some fresh air. Boynton Beach has a number of parks that provide both residents and visitors with an opportunity to get outside, exercise, and enjoy life. Have you visited the newly renovated Sara Sims Park?
Sara Sims Park, located at 209 N.W. 9th Court, went through an incredible $1.35 million dollar renovation bringing new life to the open space. The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) contributed $721,000 towards the project which was completed in September 2019. As a result of the renovations, the following amenities were added:
- site lighting, benches, and new parking
- landscape and irrigation
- cell phone charging station
- signage, additional waste receptacles, and decorative aluminum fencing
- a new restroom building near the playground
- new walkways or fitness paths and decorative concrete pavement
- Three 12′ x 14′ small pavilions, and one 25′ x 25′ large pavilion with a hose, bib, picnic tables, grills, and waste receptacles
The Boynton Beach Recreation & Parks department is working diligently to ensure that each park in Boynton Beach meets the recommended CDC Guidelines, so not all amenities may be open and available to visitors. We encourage you to enjoy Sara Sims Park while safely social distancing. Get outside, get moving, and enjoy this beautiful park located in the Heart of Boynton!
