Last night was the culmination of the Oscars, the premier of cinematic success. It is evident through these awards, and the achievement of the movies, that everyone has a love for cinema. Whether it be action, romance, comedy, or thriller, almost everyone can name at least one favorite movie. In Boynton Beach, the art of cinematography is celebrated monthly through a free, public, outdoor screening.
This month, Boynton Beach features Oscar Award winning movie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. In this film a troubled child summons the courage to help a friendly alien escape Earth and return to his home-world, directed by the acclaimed Steven Spielberg.
This year, Movies in the Park has featured films from the 1980’s with cult classics such as Back to the Future, Footloose and Gremlins. The schedule of upcoming movies includes:
March 4th- 7:00 pm- E.T. the Extra Terrestrial
April 1st- 8:00 pm-Ghostbusters
May 6th- 8:00 pm-Labyrinth
June 3rd- 8:00 pm- Beetlejuice
Each month viewers are encouraged to bring beach chairs and blankets for a movie under the stars. These movie showings are a casual, come-as-you-are atmosphere. Opening ads feature local businesses from the area. The Boynton Beach CRA provides a free drawing after the film for gift certificates to the businesses shown. Food and drinks are available for purchase, or guests are welcome to bring their favorite movie snacks. This event is for movie lovers and families alike! Don’t miss this Friday’s showing.
